This Malibu Pyramid House Built in The 80’s For Astronomy Photographers is Now Owned by a Warner Bros. Executive

A pyramid-shaped mansion created for a pair of astronomy photographers has sold for $2.02 million in Malibu. Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, a former Warner Bros. executive, and her husband, Robert, are the buyers, according to property records.

When Bill and Sally Fletcher had the one-of-a-kind home built over a three-year period, they were infatuated with the pyramid design and its vitality and with their love for astronomy thought the pyramid design would be ideal for astronomy photographs taken from inside the pyramid.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom pyramid is angled to face the magnetic north, the northern pole of Earth’s magnetic field that flows vertically down the planet. It is situated on one of the highest locations in the Santa Monica Mountains. Skylights filter natural light while an analemma; a solar calendar inlaid in the quartzite-stone floor of the living area keeps track of the days.

On the main level, there is an open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area, as well as an office and a den with a fireplace. The pinnacle of the pyramid is the master suite, which has sliding doors that open to a balcony with incredible views of the canyon.

The house is situated on a two-acre property with several fruit trees and gardens. According to public records, the unusual property was first offered for $3.1 million in 2018 and was most recently listed for $2.28 million.

The new owners, Kwan Vandenberg formerly served as the president of Warner Bros. International Film Distribution. After nearly three decades at Warner Bros., she departed the company in 2018.
