Rolls Royce Spirit of Innovation All-Electric Aircraft is Pioneering the Dawn of a New Era in Aviation

Rolls Royce is pioneering electric aviation with the fastest all-electric aircraft that has set three world records to date. The Spirit of Innovation electric aircraft is a marvel of modern technology fused with a vintage World War II design. During its record-breaking runs, the aircraft clocked a maximum speed of 387.4 mph (623 km/h) and broke the fastest climb to 3,000 meters by 60 seconds with a time of 202 seconds.

The aircraft is propelled by a 400kW (500+ hp) electric powertrain and the most power dense propulsion battery pack ever assembled for an aerospace application. The technology bodes well for the future of electric aviation paving the way for a whole new generation of electric powered aircrafts.

The Spirit of Innovation is part of Rolls Royce long history of flying speed record attempts and breaking records dating back to the Schneider Trophies of the 1930’s. The project is also a part of the UN race to Zero Campaign – committing to ensure new products with be compatible with net zero emissions operation by 2030.
