This Futuristic Floating Ocean City Shaped Like a Manta Ray Will House 7,000 People and be Completely Self-Sufficient

With 70% percent of the Earth’s surface covered by water, what better way to utilize that vast amount of space by building enormous floating cities that can house thousands of people. This colossal Manta Ray shaped ocean city designed by French artist Jacques Rougerie measures an enormous 3,000 feet x 1,600 feet and will house up to 7,000 people. There will be accommodations for researchers, professors and students complete with laboratories, classrooms, living quarters and space for leisure activities.

In keeping with the global trend towards a green economy, the floating ocean city will be completely self-sufficient. It will be powered by marine clean-energy systems such as utilizing ocean currents and waves to generate electricity. Virtually zero environmental waste will be produced from the facility once its built and functioning.

If the project ever becomes a reality, it will be one of the world’s largest ocean engineering projects employing global engineering and construction firms to make this amazing project a reality.
