Lamborghini Revuelto HPEV Begins the Company’s Transition to an Electric Future

Ending over half a century of purely gasoline-powered V12 cars, the Luxury Italian automaker of world-class sports cars has unveiled its first ever supercar with a charging port.

The new Lamborghini Revuleto is not a fully electric sports car but rather a plug-in-hybrid and while it still has a V12 gasoline engine, it also has three electric motors that when combined produces over 1,001 horses.

As the Spanish name Revuleto when translated means “scrambled”, the new sports car is a blend or scrambling of a gasoline engine with an electric motor. The combination marks the first time Lamborghini has incorporated a hybrid powertrain in one of its vehicles.

The Revuleto has a top speed of 217 mph and can achieve 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds. The combined V12 and electric motors are mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission which houses the third electric motor that doubles as a starter motor.

The new sports car incorporates plenty of new technology, with 13 drive modes, electronic suspension controls, and magnetic dampers. The styling is undoubtedly Lamborghini, continuing the iconic wedge shape and aggressive appearance.

The iconic V12 that has graced Lamborghini sports cars for decades lies tucked away under a glass canopy in the new Revuleto and is beautifully illuminated by an LED third brake light every time the driver steps on the brake.

The new Lamborghini Revuleto is expected to go on sale towards the end of this year.
