Hyundai Plans To Introduce the Mobile Eccentric Droid Robot at The 2022 CES

Hyundai plans to introduce its new four-wheeled robot named the Mobile Eccentric Droid at the 2022 CES show in Las Vegas next month. The Korean automaker plans to showcase the small mobility platform as part of its technologies currently in development. Aptly named MobED, short for Mobile Eccentric Droid, this multi-tasking robot on the surface looks simply like a skateboard with four wheels and a flattop.

However, underneath its mediocre appearance is a powerhouse of cutting edge technologies that the company hopes to demonstrate at next year’s CES. The robot is designed to carry items and keep whatever is on its flat top level and even when traversing uneven, incline or decline surfaces. This is accomplished by each of its 12-inch pneumatic tires attached to a trio of motors which can be controlled independently.

The company claims to have developed the MobED to overcome the limitations of existing indoor guide and service robots which are limited in their ability to perform tasks. While this is not the first robot that Hyundai has produced, its the first of its kind designed for carrying objects around indoors and will have the ability to transport people as well. The future of robotics at Hyundai looks very promising, look out for the debut of the MobED at the 2022 CES in Las Vegas.
