The Super73 K1D Electric Youth Bike Resurrects the Spirit of the 80’s era BMX Dirt Bike

With electric bikes fast becoming a mainstay of transportation in urban and suburban areas, California based e-bike manufacturer Super73 is introducing the first e-bike geared towards today’s youth.

Bearing similarities to the ubiquitous BMX that dominated the youth bike scene in the 1980’s, the K1D has the same dirt-bike style seating, fairings, padded crossbar, and a red handlebar with twist throttle that communicates control input to new riders.

The K1D uses a lithium-ion phosphate battery that is removable for easy charging and swapping. The battery allows 60 minutes of running time and takes 45 minutes to fully charge.

Three different ride modes allow riders to learn at their own pace. Beginners can learn the fundamentals of an electric balance bike at a lower speed, then increase performance as confidence and experience increases.

As part of its fully electric sustainable character, the K1D includes a regenerative braking system that uses braking energy to fuel the batteries. Lastly, adjustable foot platforms and pegs allows the K1D to grow with kids as they increase in height.
