Tata Motors Avinya All-Electric Van Demonstrates The Company’s Desire to Take it’s EV’s to the Global Market

Tata Motors, the Indian automaker is a relatively new entrant into the electric vehicle market. Nonetheless, the company has aspiring plans to take its fleet of EV’s to the global market. The all-electric Avinya van demonstrates the company’s commitment to compete in the global EV market.

The company unveiled the ultra-sleek Avinya van on Friday in Mumbai India. It’s jaw-dropping design, not only turned heads but had competitors giving a side-eye to the Indian automaker that also owns Jaguar Land Rover, a brand that has a solid footprint in the global SUV market.

Tata’s Avinya features a crisp, minimalist design that has a sophisticated appearance with razor-thin head lamps and an illuminated faux grille. Dual opening suicide doors hinged at the rear open to an interior that is simply astounding with design aesthetics that rival even the top branded EVs. The dashboard is completely bare except for an end-to-end soundbar and a steering wheel which we might come to miss in the coming years on all EVs.

Unlike Tesla EVs with a giant infotainment touchscreen, the Avinya has no such touchscreen, though its believed that the small screen on the steering column is the infotainment touchscreen. Beyond the dashboard, two rotating pilot seats allow easy access in and out of the vehicle while a simple bench seat in the rear provides seating for three passengers.

The Avinya is built on a brand-new electric platform that the company claims charges fasters than anything on the market. The platform was built to demonstrate the company’s new pure EV architecture which will be incorporated into all future electric vehicles built by Tata Motors. There is no information on the size and power of the battery pack, though the company claims it will get 310 miles on a 30-minute charge.

The Avinya is undoubtedly a world-class EV that will compete with the best electric vehicles on the market. However, before you make plans to purchase, the Avinya is only a concept at the moment with no confirmed production date or schedule. With the company’s desire to take its EV’s beyond the Indian market and with the Avinya garnering more interests since its unveiling on Friday, we might see things change rapidly with a solid production schedule set for sometime in the near future, lets keep our fingers crossed.
