Pearsuites are Solar-Powered Motorized Hotel Pods That Can Cruise Around The Sea

Known as Pearlsuite, these solar-powered motorized hotel suites offer 5-star hotel accommodation with the ability to cruise around the sea. Well not the open ocean of course, but inland waterways, lakes, bays, and areas where the seas are calm. The brainchild of Pierpaolo Lazzarini, Pearlsuite is an emission-free floating hotel pods with a motorized platform that is meant to change the way we stay at 5-star hotels.

The project was designed as an easy-to-build pod that can be added to existing 5-star hotel offerings instead of being a stand alone hotel. However, the idea is so revolutionary that it can be built as a stand alone hotel as well. The pods are 23 feet in diameter and are made from a reinforced main shell with a sturdy circular hull.

The pods are fitted with solar-panels along the entire extremity of its retractable dome roof that resembles and opens like a stadium roof. The solar panels generate clean, green energy to power the pod’s air conditioning, lighting and other appliances.

Furthermore, the pods are fully autonomous, self-sustaining energy wise and can be outfitted with electric motors and GPS navigation with autopilot. Each pod will be able to travel up to 5 knots which is not very fast but safe for a floating hotel room.

To maintain stability on the water, the pods are fitted with a gyroscopic stabilizer that ensure smooth sailing. In addition, each pod has extra space in the hull compartment to fit your gear and equipment which can be hydrogen fuel cell generators to produce energy onboard on overcast days.

Interior space is roughly 238 square feet and because of its circular shape, it can be configured in a variety of arrangements. The pods will have two versions, the upscale version priced at $300,000 will have everything including a refrigerator, television, double bed and an outdoor deck with direct access to the water. The cheaper version will start at $50,000 and will have one lounge with very basic amenities.
