GM’s New $30,000 Equinox Electric SUV is One of The Cheapest EV’s on the Market with Outstanding Performance

Good things are still coming out of GM. In fact, the company’s foray into the electric space is producing some very good results. Recently the company unveiled a brand-new electric SUV with a price tag that is truly shocking. Only $30,000 will get you a Chevy Equinox EV with beautiful styling and exceptional performance.

Be it known that the average price for electric vehicles on the market starts at $47,500 and up, this makes the new Equinox EV at $30,000, the cheapest EV on the market and perhaps the cheapest every made by a major automaker.

However, we cannot ignore the Nissan Leaf, which comes in at $28,500 and which qualifies for a $7,500 federal tax credit which the Equinox does not. That said, the Leaf is a compact sedan while the Equinox EV is an SUV and with burgeoning demand for SUVs and Crossovers, we can safely assume which of these vehicles would be in greater demand.

For owners of the gas-powered Chevy Equinox, the new Equinox EV has very little in common with its gas guzzling counterpart except the same name. It’s no surprise why GM named its electric EV the same as its gas-powered Equinox small SUV which has been the company’s second-best-selling model after its pickup line.

The new Equinox EV is slightly wider and slightly shorter than its gas counterpart. There is no front trunk that is common with most EV’s, instead the space is occupied by electronics and other components.

The Equinox EV will be available in two versions, the cheaper Blazer 1LT edition with a 210 hp engine with front wheel drive with driving range between 250 to 300 miles depending on the trim version which increases the price of course. The more capable 2LT edition has a sportier disposition, the same engine but will be able to achieve 300 mile driving range depending on front or wall wheel drive.
