ASTON MARTIN’S NEW DBR22 IS AN OPEN COCKPIT RACE INSPIRED SPEED DEMON
Aston Martin unveiled the DBR22, an open-cockpit race-inspired speed demon that is meant to honor 10 years of the British automaker Luxury Q division. We saw a brief glimpse of the DBR22 earlier this month when the company announced it would debut its new vehicles at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The DBR22 is inspired by the DBR1 and the DB3S race cars that the company produced in the 1950s. In keeping with the original DBR1 and DB3S, the new DBR22 features an open-cockpit with seats for two and a wind deflector instead of an actual windscreen. The body design is smooth and well contoured with a horseshoe vent in the hood and a new grille with carbon-fiber inserts.

Although the DBR22 is inspired by racers from the 1950s, nothing about this vehicle is antiquated. It’s completely modern with all the latest technologies down to the new Aston Martin’s infotainment system. The cabin is spacious for a two-seater and everything in the cabin is covered with “supple aromatic” leather accented with carbon-fiber trim.

The new DBR22 is powered by a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The powertrain puts out an impressive 705 hp with 555 ft-lb of torque. The vehicle can achieve 0-60 mph in less than 3.4 seconds and can hit top speeds of over 198 mph.

The price and release date of the DBR22 remains a mystery but judging from the specs above we can confidently conclude the price will be exorbitant. Every past Q model has been exclusive and limited so there is no reason to believe the new DBR22 which was built to celebrate the Q division would be any different.
